Impact Screening Tool
This webpage is still under development for a period of two weeks, in order for us to refine content.
The IST has been developed for the use of BCBC officers and its partners, in the development and planning of key initiatives. The tool is designed to help in the decision making process, in particular on how to take into account sustainable development, health and well being, equalities and community safety issues. The tool will help strengthen initiatives by encouraging cross cutting thinking, which will save time in the future by clarifying direction and preparing project teams for questions that may be asked later. The tool will also ensure initiatives are considered from different perspectives, before it is developed in any detail.
It is recommended that the tool should be used on all major initiatives, which have a potential impact on people living in Bridgend County Borough, staff working for the Authority and/or the environment.
The “Impact Screening Tool” has been developed by the BCBC Sustainable Development, Health and Well Being, Equalities and Community Safety Teams and the Children's Services Directorate. The tool was adopted by Cabinet in May 2009, and since then has been piloted on a number of strategies and projects. The desktop version has been produced in response for the IST to service a greater number of key initiatives, which will allow officers to carry out the IST, with more limited support from IST officers.
